13 Free Kindle Books on Friday the 13th

April 13th, 2012

WHEEoooWHEEoooWHEEoooWHEEooo.  That’s the sound of the creepiness factor we all try not to notice as we pretend that Friday the 13th is just like any other day.  But this Friday the 13th . . . is . . . different.

And why, you might ask, is it different?  It’s different because 13 talented writers, led by the fearless Stacy Juba, have forged fearlessly into that inauspicious day to make available thirteen, yes, thirteen Kindle books on Amazon.

The book I have up is THE FOUR LAST THINGS, the first-published, if not the first-written, of the Simeon Grist books.  Free, do you hear, free?

And I’m in illustrious company.

Here are the names of all my brave companions and the books they’re giving away.  Also noted are the dates each book will be free.  To find out more, you can just click on the link for each one that appeals to you.

Oh, hell, order them all.  If, that is, you have a Kindle or ebook software on your computer.

NOTE:  Many of these are free for many days, while o

Oh, and one more thing: In keeping with the time-honored “first one’s free” marketing technique used by entrepreneurs offering addictive substances, not only is THE FOUR LAST THINGS absolutely free, but the second in the series, EVERYTHING BUT THE SQUEAL, is up for 99 cents.  Two books for less than 50 cents each.  Such a deal.

    Tim,

Thank you for the free book and the very cheap one. Also thanks to the other twelve authors that I look forward to read.

  2. Scott Reeves Says:

That’s what I get for already owning all of your books. But thanks. If we can attract more readers, maybe we can get more Junior Bender books.

  3. Pat Browning Says:

    Hi, Tim:
The freebies are competing with tornado warnings here in Oklahoma but luckily I did my downloading today while most people were asleep — at 4 a.m.
Off now to look up your Grist giveaways so I can post the news somewhere —
    Good luck with the promotion.

I had the pleasure of reading THE FOUR LAST THINGS when it was first published. I’ve read almost all of the Simeon Grist books and I have to say this one is one of my very favorites.

Wishing you all the best with your latest promotion, Tim!

  5. Gary Says:

Of course I have The Four Last Things in the original 1989 heritage edition. Complete with underlinings by the author.

Good luck with the book promotions, Tim. (And with Friday the thirteenth.)

    Hi, everybody —

What a day this has been. 1st thing this AM I get approximatel 220 emails telling me that the link I’d posted to an Amazon page with all the books on it wasn’t working — and it wasn’t because Amazon had pulled the page. So I put this up in about ten minutes and then spent three hours emailing everyone to give them this link, and in the meantime I forgot all about checking on my own statistics, and holy mother of God, there have been more than 10,000 downloads today. Last time I put up a free book “The Bone Polisher” we had 11,000 downloads over three days, and we’re nearly there on this, the first day of this giveaway. Astonishing.

GARY — Is that my copy, that I left behind???? Naw — why would I have had a copy in Phnom Penh? Much less underlined? I don’t sit around at night reading my old books aloud to myself. Honest, I don’t.

SUZANNA, I like FOUR LAST too, but I have to say that the one that knocked my socks off (to coin a phrase) was BONE POLISHER. Sheesh, I was good when I wrote that one.

PAT — Please, stay out of tornadoes. The promotion so far has been fairly amazing, I have to say.

SCOTT — As I told you in my email, the third Junior Bender, THE FAME THIEF, is happening at a remarkable rate of speed (for me) and I’m really loving it, which is not usually the case when I’m writing something. More on that other matter as things resolve themselves.

And ANNE — Thanks to you for downloading them, and I really hope they work for you.

  7. Pamela Says:

Thanks so much for sharing this info about your books and your friends. I look forward to reading all 13! Happy Friday the 13th to you!

  8. EverettK Says:

That’s odd. I’d gone to the page for all 13 books this morning, using YOUR link from your email, no problem. Then I posted the link to my puzzle games discussion group, and had a number of folks reply that they were getting a 404 error on it.

Maybe the Amazon URL shortener expires after 24 hours or something?

  9. Suzanna Says:

Tim, You are a marvelous writer, always have been, always will be.

  10. Ruth Says:

Guess who has an ADVANCE UNCOPYEDITED EDITION of THE FEAR ARTIST?? Yes, lucky me!!– a gift to me today from our local, small, independent, home town, Fort Bragg book store, Cheshire Books. So All that I’m supposed to be doing is not happening! Joe is wondering if he gets dinner tonight!! Maybe the …”enormous hamburger” on page 117. or the …”plate of fried eggs” on page 242. THANKS, TIM!!

  11. Scott Reeves Says:

    Ruth, what would it take…
Just kidding (sort of), but congrats.

  12. Ruth Says:

DO NOT (I repeat!) DO NOT read THE FEAR ARTIST before going to bed for you will lie awake thinking about the characters all night long!! It’s another great Poke thriller that I can excitedly extol. Yes, I did stay up to finish it. So I’m back browsing favorite passages this morning. How Tim describes rain enchants me. Many Congratulations, Tim!! I was privileged to read this preview copy!! (and took proof reading seriously with a misspelled word found p. 266, 5th paragraph down)

  13. Usman Says:

    Hi there Tim,

OK, I missed out on the free downloads.
Say hello to Gary my old friend.

Now, hopefully I am back, and fully charged too. Missed you and the guys who hang around The Cabin, but life was having fun with me.
    Will talk about that later.
    Ciao
